The noble basement — that low-ceilinged netherworld; survivor of many late nights, haus parties, concerts, and rehearsals; container for some of the grimiest dirt in the whole of Friedrichshain — was where the molecules moved in November. The mixer was half-broken, but we strung it together with the trusty zoom recorder to turn sounds into ones and zeroes. These two resulting little lakes of sound are still ultimately-incomplete reflections of ongoing labour, but simultaneously preferable to silence — the silence of hibernation through a pandemic and all that came after, the silence of struggles to restart the engine, the silence of self-doubt and slow sisyphean unfurlings. We put them here as placeholders, while the work continues, unfinished and ill-recorded, sketches for a next step.

What you can hear: Voices, trumpet, bass, xylophone, loopstations, and the sound of falling metal straws bouncing and skittering on the concrete, floating through the delay pedals on the trays that David made for us one summer afternoon in Stolzenhagen, back when things were simpler.
